Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2013

It was my pleasure to be involved in photographing the 2013 Sculpture By the Sea Cottesloe Exhibition this year. The project started mere days after I arrived back home from the snow-laden fields of Europe for the Passenger Tour… so adjusting to the searing 40 degree West Australian summer was quite the experience. There were some amazing works on display from both local and internationally renowned artists. I’ve always loved working with artists and the arts, and the Sculpture team from Sydney were a really lovely bunch so it was a great way to get back into the swing of things in Perth. A few of my favourite images are featured below, enjoy.

Karen & Sam | 21 March 2013

Karen and Sam invited me along to capture their lovely wedding in Marmion. Funnily enough, it had turned out that a friend of Karen’s used to book Passenger’s WA gigs back in the day, so there was an unlikely connection there already! Though it was a tricky one, as I had also been selected as a finalist for the WA Youth Awards that night, and needed to be in two places at once. Luckily, the brilliant Jun Song came to the rescue and took over the photography duties at the reception, some of which are featured below. Really lovely, laid back couple, and a heartfelt day – I loved being a part of it. Some favourites below:

Anika & Stuart | 15 & 16 March 2013

Anika and Stuart’s wedding was a crazy mashup of Indian and Scottish culture over two days in March. Anika contacted me last year about photographing her wedding, though it was at a time where I had decided not to take on any bookings to concentrate on my own personal work as well as travel and touring, so I was having to turn down 95% of wedding enquiries. I haven’t told her this before but what changed my mind was a funny/slightly awkward joke she left in a voicemail message.. I can’t even really recall what it was, but I remember laughing to myself and thinking that she sounded cool and it was probably going to be a bunch of fun. And I’m glad I did because it was a wonderfully colourful and unique couple of days. Congratulations you two, here are a few of my favourites.

Stu Larsen and Natsuki Kurai | Ellington Jazz Club, Perth

Some images from Stu Larsen and Natsuki Kurai’s show, supported by Tenielle Neda. Mindblowing performances from peeps I’m proud to call my friends, and finally got to meet Natsuki after only hearing tales of his legendary harmonica prowess in the past (and after many people mistaking me for him in Europe). Lovely music, lovely company, just how it always should be!

Miss Universe WA Preliminary Finals

I’ve always been a fan of Pink Tank Events’ Miss Universe WA competition so thought I’d head down and check out the finals held at Rooftop Movies. A friend of mine Lakyn has been over in Perth for the past couple days on tour with Birdy, so I invited him along as well to show him some of Perth’s finest! Congratulations to all of the finalists and the top six girls (Rachel Ayris, Kirsten Clemens, Charlotte Goodlet, Caris Tiivel, Meaghan Slattery and Tamlin Dobrich) who will be heading to Melbourne for the national title. And well done to Sophia and Troy on a fantastic event. Fun night and great to see some familiar faces on the runway. Here are some highlights, rest to go up on my Facebook page soon. Feel free to repost these just tag me in if you do…:)
