The Story of Scars - Frequently Asked Questions

What is this all for?

I am hoping to capture enough portraits for an eventual book and exhibition.  You can get a pretty good overview of the project so far here.

How do you choose which people to photograph?

I'm aiming to cover a diverse range of people, in terms of scars, locations, ages and occupations.  The more variety the better.  For this project I will be travelling far and wide across Australia.

What makes an interesting scar?

I'm more interested in the story and character behind it, than the actual scar itself.  The scar doesn't necessarily need to be huge or noticeable to make a great portrait.

Where will the photos be shown?

Aside from the book, some portraits may be shared on my social media or articles about the project.  I will always double check with you before sharing anything.

How long does a portrait shoot take?

Anywhere between 30 minutes and 2 hours, depending on how complex the idea and set up is.  I'll always work to whatever time you have available.
